Portraits | Lani – The Girl from Pondicherry

As you scour South India, you tend to discover some pretty little towns and one of them is a French town called Pondicherry (or Puducherry as it is known now). Located on the east coast of India, many generations have thrived here since the French colonized the area and now you see that the place has evolved into a eclectic mix of Indian traditions and the old world charm. One such 3rd generation Pondicherryite with an interesting outlook and an energetic confidence is Lani. She grew up in Pondicherry and loves the place to death. Now in her final years at school, she had blossomed into this pretty girl that was waiting to come in front of my camera. So, here’s presenting, Lani.

In terms of some technical details, the location was their home in a little verandah, shot after sunset. Used a simple remote flash mounted on a stand with a white umbrealla as keylight and a CFL tri-light as a hair light. Used a silver reflector for some of the shots. Mostly shot with either my 50mm or a 55-200mm on a Nikon D7000. ISO was at 400 for the most part and shutter speed either at 160 or 200.
